Punchh runs the program at national scale. Loyalist runs the room.
Punchh, now sold as part of PAR Engagement, is an enterprise loyalty suite, and at thousands of locations it is about as proven as this category gets. Loyalist’s difference is a record that needs no app: it builds from the check and the booking, puts arriving names in front of the host, and counts covers, not points.
Punchh
An enterprise loyalty platform.
- 01You are a national brand with hundreds or thousands of locations and a loyalty program is a strategic asset with a team behind it.
- 02Quick service or fast casual, where the app is the relationship and a points balance is what brings someone back.
- 03You want ordering, offers, loyalty and guest data bought from one vendor with enterprise support and strategy services attached.
Loyalist
The AI platform that turns guest data into revenue.
- 01You want one profile per guest, built from all your guest data, and personalized campaigns that drive revenue. Nothing to download and nothing to carry.
- 02You want full service covered without a program team to staff it. Reservations, private events and public reviews are first-class rather than a footnote to ordering.
- 03You want recognition to reach a person. The host and the maitre d’ are briefed before service, which a points balance inside an app cannot do.
Punchh and Loyalist, axis by axis.
Both run at multi-unit scale. The split is the model: an app and a points balance, or a dining room where the best guests never enrolled.
| Axis | Punchh | Loyalist |
|---|---|---|
| Built around | A loyalty program and an ordering stack, with data from both. | One guest profile with recognition on top, so a regular is known at the door without carrying anything. |
| Who it is for | National brands, measured in hundreds or thousands of locations. | Full-service hospitality groups, from one room to fifty locations. |
| Recognition model | The guest enrolls, earns and redeems. | A reverse punch card: Loyalist tracks, the team recognizes, nothing to carry. |
| Reaches the floor | The app, the offer and the POS at the counter. | A pre-shift report naming who is booked tonight, so the room is briefed before the first guest arrives. |
Where the two overlap, and what usually happens next.
The program rarely comes out and it does not need to. Punchh keeps the app and the points. Loyalist covers the guests it cannot see and the revenue it never touches.
- Guest profiles, segments and the campaigns that run off them
- Email and SMS campaigns to targeted segments
- Automated journeys off guest milestones
- Points and the guest-facing app they live in
- Thousands of locations running a single program
- See the covers a campaign booked, counted in your reservation platform
- Guests who never downloaded the app or enrolled in anything
- Private dining booked by contract, landing on the guest record
- Notes and tags written back into the reservation book before service
- A routed phone line with a VIP override straight to a manager
What you get with Loyalist.
- Skip the app and the enrolment. The record builds from the check and the booking. Punchh is built for a brand where the relationship runs through an app and a points balance.
- Cover full service properly. Reservations, private events and public reviews are first-class parts of the guest picture rather than a footnote to ordering.
- Put the name in front of the host. The host and the maitre d’ are briefed before service. A points balance inside an app cannot reach the door.
- Run it without a program team. One person who owns guest relations runs it. Punchh assumes a loyalty program with a team and strategy services behind it.
- Count covers, not redemptions. A campaign reports the covers it booked in your reservation platform rather than the points it moved.

Why operators love Loyalist.
The platform provides unparalleled insight into the lifeline of our guests, allowing us to track their journey across all our properties.
Kyra Burner Major Food Group Loyalist’s centralized VIP line and guest look-up feature have centralized our guest relations, and made it easier for our teams to find the relevant information about our diners.
Mattos Hospitality It’s one of the biggest strides we’ve taken as small, independent operators.
Elizabeth Sharp Glendale Hospitality Top restaurant groups use Loyalist daily:
Is Punchh still called Punchh?
It is sold as part of PAR Engagement now, after PAR acquired it. Most operators still say Punchh, which is why we do too.
Can we keep our loyalty program and add Loyalist?
Yes. Loyalist sits above whatever program you run. Membership standing can live on the same profile as spend, bookings, reviews and events, so a member and a regular stop being two separate records.
When is Punchh the better choice?
If you are a national chain and a points program is the retention strategy, they are built for exactly that. The question worth asking first is what share of your regulars would ever enroll. In full service it is usually small, and those are the guests Loyalist is for.
When is Loyalist the better choice?
When the relationship happens across a table rather than in an app. Every guest has a record whether or not they enrolled, the host knows who is arriving before service, and one person runs it instead of a program team.
Which is better for a restaurant group, Punchh or Loyalist?
Punchh has spent fifteen years on problems that only appear at thousands of locations and it is strong there. If your front door is an app and your scale is national, that is Punchh territory. For a full-service group, Loyalist gives every guest a record whether or not they enrolled, puts the arriving names in front of the host before service, and counts a campaign in covers booked rather than points redeemed.
Does Loyalist work at enterprise scale?
Yes, up to the scale we build for. A group running fifty rooms across several brands and cities is well inside it, and the same guest stays one record across all of them. The unit of work is a guest and a shift rather than a chain-wide program, so a national chain of thousands is a different problem.
Can Loyalist see guests who never downloaded the app?
Yes, and that is the central difference. The profile is built from what your systems already capture, so a guest exists whether or not they ever enrolled in anything.
What happens to our existing points balances?
Nothing. Loyalist does not run the program and does not touch the ledger. Punchh is not on our integrations hub today, so the two run side by side rather than syncing.
